'The Coaches'



Mark Van Trees -
Head Coach and Founder of the Tampa Barbarians - Mark has been involved in Rugby since 1970 when he played scrum-half for The High School, Dublin, Ireland. On coming to the USA in 1972, he founded the Langley High School RFC who went on to become the Eastern Seaboard HS champions in 1973 and 1974. From 1972 to 1985 he was involved as a player and laterly as a coach with the George Mason University RFC and subsequently Indiana University. Since 2006 Mark has been assisting with the coaching of the USF Bulls Rugby Team (2007 Florida Collegiate champions)






Stuart Hutchings - Coach - Stuart played Rugby since 1975 whilst at High School and College, and laterly whilst serving in the Royal Navy, playing his last competitive game in 1988. Originally from England, Stuart completed the RFU level 1 coaching certificate in 2006 having been involved in coaching youth Rugby in his home town of Bicester, England for the previous 4 years -
 "Rugby is a rapidly growing sport in the US and I am excited about the opportunities this presents for youths of all ages - especially in the Tampa area."
